Éric González was born in Ponferrada (Spain) in 1986. At the age of 8 he began studying oboe at the Conservatory of Ponferrada, where he ended his basic studies with the highest qualifications.

Later he moved to the Higher Conservatory of Music of La Coruña (Spain), where he did the first year of University. After this year his career jumped by winning a scholarship to study at the ̈Liceo ̈ Conservatory of Music of Barcelona (Spain), where he studied with José Manuel González (soloist in the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville, Spain) and took master classes with the most renowned soloists in the world.

After finishing his studies in Barcelona, he moved to Munich (Germany) where he continued his oboe and English horn studies with Prof. Ingo Goritzki, who is considered one of the best teachers of his time and the main teacher of the best principal oboes in the European Orchestras.

Throughout this time, Éric González took specialization classes with soloists of all Europe like François Leleux, Stefan Schilli, Thomas Indermühle, Lucas Macías, Albrecht Mayer, Dominik Wollenweber, Washington Barella, Mizuho Yoshsii, Victor Ánchel, Juan Manuel Lumbreras, Yeon-Hee Kwak, Christian Schmitt, José Luis García, Gareth Hulsen, Emmanuel Abbül and Eduardo Martínez.

So far Éric González had worked with numerous European orchestras like: Royal Orchestra of Seville, Chamber orchestra of Munich (Germany) , Chamber orchestra of Lugano (Switzerland), Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands, Young National Orchestra of Catalonia, Young Orchestra of “Castilla y León”. He has performed in Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, England, Holland, Russia, South Korea, China…

From 2012 to 2014 Éric González was the principal oboe and principal English horn in the Guiyang Symphony Orchestra (GYSO). With this orchestra he played as a soloist the Concerto for oboe and violin BWV 1060 by JS Bach and toured major Asian cities.

In 2014 he was named “Artist Yamaha” for oboe and “Artist Lorée” for English horn.

From 2014 to 2017 he was the principal oboe and section head of the Madeira Classical Orchestra (Portugal).

From 2015 he is the owner and founder of EG-REEDS, our company dedicated to the manufacture of oboe and English horn reeds. He also teaches oboe masterclasses and reedmaking workshops.
